The songwriters

What comes first - the lyrics or the tune? Come and join in the songwriters' session with Bernard Wrigley, Dylan Owen, Edwina Hayes and Mary McCombs. Apart from hearing the songs written by these superb songwriters, you will be able to air your own songs and ask any questions you may have about writing lyrics and tunes. This gentle, relaxed session will benefit anyone who has already written songs and even if you haven't written any yet you will gain lots of new information about songwriting techniques.

Never been to a 'Meet' before?

Artistes are always happy to meet with their audience and we are holding  several of these events. It is an informal, relaxing way to speak personally to the artists and ask any questions you may have. They usually give an outline of how they started their career, the kinds of music that influences them and how they developed their career in the folk world. From then on the floor is usually open to questions and requests.

The artists you can meet this year are Mike Silver & Jo Partridge, The Jones Family Band, Harvey Andrews and Jez Lowe & the Bad Pennies.

Craft Fair Market Place, Water colour painting demonstrations, Boat Museum Crafters - Canal Art, Late Night Ceileidh dance, Mini-concerts, Rolling Folk Club concerts, Talent Showcase, Story telling sessions with Mary Holden-Gill, Whitby School Canal Heritage display
