Wirral Folk On The Coast Festival is renowned for its diverse fringe events, and there was something to please everyone at our festival. A new addition in 2011 was the Schools' Song Competition. This exciting new event was held to encourage children to make, enjoy and perform music. The Festival edge included music, song, dance, guitar, drumming dance and harmony singing workshops, along with the Festival marketplace which included beautiful hand-made items on the many craft stalls.

Wirhalh Skip Felag (Wirral Vikings) The Wirral peninsula has a significant Viking heritage. Wirhalh Skip Felag demonstrated Viking crafts throughout the weekend and on Saturday and Sunday afternoons presented Viking re-enactments.

Singer-songwriter competition Following last year's success, we once again held a singer-songwriter competition. The competition was open to any weekend ticket holder. The entries were of such high quality that the judges found it difficult to choose from the songs in the first heat. Anthony John Clarke and Jamie Landsborough kindly judged the final four entries. The winning song was a joint entry. The words were written by Coleen Cavelle and the tune was jointly composed by Alan Hesford and Dawn Beth Adams. Alan played guitar and Dawn sang the song on the main stage on Sunday evening.
